What is Google Shopping?


Google Shopping is a service that allows people to discover and find products to purchase, they can also do a comparison between different brands that offer similar products. When a customer search for a product in google, a list of products will appear in search results or under the Shopping tab. 


From a seller's perspective, Google Shopping is a platform where they can list their products and connect with different potential buyers since they will be viewed as being trustworthy if a potential customer discovers their products in Google Shopping. 


According to Google “Google Shopping is a new product discovery experience. The goal is to make it easy for users to research purchases, find information about different products, their features, and prices, and then connect with sellers to make their purchases.



Steps to enable the Google Shopping app in your YouCan store



Configuration in YouCan platform:


  1. Log in to your seller area

  2. Go to Apps and click Install under the Google Shopping app to enable it

  3. Click on Get Started



Google Shopping configuration:


  1. Go to Google Merchant Center

  2. Click on Get Started

  3. Log in to your Google account

  4. Click on Yes on the next page and enter the link to your YouCan store

  5. Click on Create a Google Merchant Center account



You will then be redirected to a page where you need to fill in some sections. Watch this video to see the entire process of linking your store with Google shopping and how to configure it. The video contains all the information you need to know. 


Keep this in mind: when setting up Google Shopping make sure to :


1) Claim your website, copy the link that will be generated and paste the link into the  CSS/JavaScript configs tab. To see this step, fast-forward to 1:31 minute in this video to see which part we are talking about.


2) Choose Scheduled fetch as an option when you are setting up the product section in Google Shopping. Fast forward to 2:29 minutes in this video to see which part we are talking about.
