Before you begin
Before creating a Meta Pixel, make sure you have the following:
- A Meta Business Manager account. If you don't have one yet, create one here.
- An Ad Account. If you haven't created an Ad Account yet, you can do so by following the steps below.
Step 1: Create an Ad Account
Sign in to your Facebook account.
Click your Profile.
Select Meta Business.
Go to Meta Business Settings.
From the left-hand menu, select Ad Accounts.
Click Add.
Select Create a new ad account.
Enter a name for your Ad Account.
Click Next, then click Next again and accept the terms and conditions.
Click Create Ad Account.
Once your Ad Account has been created successfully, it will appear in the Ad Accounts list along with its details.
Step 2: Create a Meta Pixel
After creating your Ad Account:
Go to Data Sources from the left-hand menu.
Click Datasets and Pixels.
Click Add.
Enter a name for your Pixel.
Click Create.
After the Pixel is created, Meta will ask you to associate it with the Ad Account you just created.
Select the appropriate Ad Account.
Click Next to complete the setup.
Once the process is complete, your Meta Pixel is ready to use.
Step 3: Copy your Pixel ID and connect the Meta Pixel to your YouCan store
After creating the Pixel, you'll see its details, including the Pixel ID.
Copy the Pixel ID, as you'll need it in the next step to connect it to your YouCan store.
Once you've copied your Pixel ID:
Go to Settings in your YouCan store dashboard.
Open the Online section.
Go to Facebook Pixel Settings.
Paste your Pixel ID into the designated field.
Click Add, then click Save.
Once your settings are saved, your Meta Pixel will be connected to your store.
Step 4: Verify your Meta Pixel setup
After connecting your Pixel to your store, return to Meta Business Manager.
Open Events Manager.
Select the Pixel you created.
Go to the Settings tab.
Scroll down and click Open Event Setup Tool.
Enter your store's URL.
Click Add Events.
Your store will open along with the Meta Pixel setup window, confirming that the connection has been successfully established.
⚠️ Important
When creating your Meta Pixel, make sure not to enable the Track events automatically without code option.
According to the latest YouCan updates, you no longer need to manually configure events using the Meta Event Setup Tool. Once you add your Pixel ID to the dedicated field in your store settings, YouCan's built-in integration automatically sends the essential events to Meta.
Enabling the Track events automatically without code option or manually configuring events may result in Duplicate Events, which can affect the accuracy of your Meta reports and the performance of your advertising campaigns.
Verify that your Pixel is working
To make sure your Meta Pixel is working correctly:
Open your store.
Browse it as a customer would.
Add a product to the cart or place a test order.
Wait approximately 30 minutes.
Then, go to the Overview page in Events Manager.
If everything has been configured correctly, your events and data will begin to appear automatically, confirming that your Meta Pixel is successfully connected to your YouCan store and working as expected.
