Quick check
To identify the verification method you can “login as seller” to store admin, then check the settings icon exists for each custom domain
- If the settings icon is visible then the domain is configured using verification method 1 (NS)
- If the settings icons are not present then the domain is pointed using method 2 (CNAME)
Examples:
In this use case:
agild.ma uses method 1 that rely on YouCan DNS servers: ns1.youcan.shop and ns2.youcan.shop
To manage DNS records, the seller can click the settings icon.
www.old.ma uses method 2 that rely on a 3rd party DNS provider (GoDaddy, etc) with a CNAME record custom.youcan.shop
To manage DNS records, the seller should log in to his domain provider panel.
Advanced check
Use dig toolbox to inspect domain records and identify the verification method used
https://toolbox.googleapps.com/apps/dig/
For 3rd party DNS providers:
Known issues:
domain without www is not working :
www is not working :
Check if there is an existing A or CNAME record for the root domain
If any, remove any A or CNAME record that point to the root domain (@)
Then add the following records or make sure they exist
First record :
type: CNAME
name: @
content: custom.youcan.shop
Second record :
type: CNAME
name: www
content: custom.youcan.shop
Note:
This option doesn’t work with all domains providers, for some the user will be unable to add @ record as a CNAME due to RFC limitations
Several DNS providers have now developed custom solutions to work around this problem, including:
ALIAS at DNSimple
ANAME at DNS Made Easy
ANAME at easyDNS
CNAME (virtual) at CloudFlare
Solution to suggest:
Use verification method 1 by using YouCan DNS servers
For domains managed by YouCan:
Emailing issues:
The user doesn’t receive emails in his 3rd party
TODO:
Ask for MX records in the 3rd party hosting provider, add record via domains popin in seller-area
type: MX
name: @
content: mx.zoho.com
priority: 10
Make sure deleting mta1.youcan.shop and mta2.youcan.shop if they exists in records
Integration with other services:
The user can’t verify his domain on a 3rd party service like GoogleApps, ZenDesk etc..
TODO:
Add a corresponding TXT records via domain popin in seller-area
type: TXT
name: @
content: example txt content
Note:
When a domain is added, our DNS Service automatically imports existing TXT and MX records to keep already verified services working
Domain names with special characters (IDNs)
Called also Internationalised Domain Names (IDNs), is when your domain name can contain characters from any official EU language script, for example, the Swedish å, the German ü, the Romanian ș and characters from the Bulgarian (Cyrillic) and Greek alphabets as a whole.
At the point when this domain name is created, the systems will compare the chosen characters to equivalents in the other supported scripts, the systems detect that certain characters are identical or confusingly similar to others, then the domain name is inserted in a homoglyph bundle with the equivalent domain names, which use the identical or confusingly similar characters.
So to add this kind of Domaine to your store you need to search on any Domain Name provider website for example searching on www.name.com write your Domain we have chosen éva when we search it give us this as you can see on the screenshot
So to insert this Domaine that has special characters to your store you need to insert it as xn--va-9ia.com
don’t stress out the Domaine will be as éva. com
